Education at the WM 2-4-18

As a courtesy- & service to our community we will hold introductory- & refresher classes on all things related to our kinky lifestyle during our Sunday Wet Munches at the APC. Please be generous and -TIP- our Bartender for his/her great service to you!!!

Gail Starr and SANE

Gail Starr, RN is the Clinical Coordinator at Albuquerque SANE Collaborative where she has worked since 2007. They conduct domestic violence and sexual assault exams free of charge and are very patient centered. She has 13 years of nursing experience and is an educator in the areas of Gendered Violence. She is a member of the Statewide Taskforce and is a core trainer for SANEs for NM.  Also, she passionately teaches about Strangulation, Sexual Assault and Intimate Partner Violence even to the point of stopping strangers on the street to inform them of the need to discuss these topics in our communities. She strives to ensure the SANE response is inclusive and supportive to all members of the community. Yoga, watching Korean Dramas, and running in the mountains make up a large part of her self-care.

As of yesterday, I began separating my community friends from my vanilla friends on Facebook.

I post a lot of sex positive, kinky, LGBTQI...., political, and otherwise extreme shit that my family, vanilla friends and clients are not interested in seeing.

I've started adding people to my new profile which will be the Jinx you know and love VS. the old profile which encompasses my vanilla life.

I've been tagged in questionable posts recently.

I am going through a nasty divorce.

I have kids on my vanilla profile.

I have family, clients and friends on my profile who are very much vanilla.

I need to do some separating.

Life goes on and it is nothing personal.

I'm giving YOU a choice... See my sexy shit...or see my mundane muggle life. If you don't want to see my community life and what drives Jinx, then don't add the other profile.

If you are safe and prefer a muggle profile anyways, keep being yourself and we can be "muggle friends".

Hell, if you can keep things separate, we can be friends on both profiles!

I know some of you out there will not add people on your Facebook account under any circumstances. I know some of you are "out". Separating my life is something I should have done a long time ago, not only for my personal safety, but for the safety of my fellow community members who are not "out" for personal, professional or for "none of your fucking business" reasons. Some of us have things to lose...especially in this dark political time. We all have personal lives that do not revolve around our kinky and unorthodox interests. That is okay!

What isn't okay is getting offended because I've taken you off of my vanilla account and put you on my community account. When you blow up at me for protecting myself, other community members, or even you, you have just shown me you may be a threat. If you demand to know why I took you off of my vanilla account, to me...you are not safe.

If I took you off of my personal account, don't be upset. I want to promote shows I will be in but I do not want certain folks who are literally "out to get me" to see them on my vanilla profile and stalk me thanks to some "friends" who have been keeping tabs on me for people intending to do me harm.

Think before you accuse, type, post, tag, call etc.

New Year and New Me Bullshit.

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope your New Year got off to a kickass start. Mine? Mercurial for sure.

I had the absolute pleasure of suturing my brother's Corazon Leather patch onto his back at the Clubhouse. Despite rude onlookers invading my space and bumping me while I was holding a needle attached to live skin, I had fun. The patch even came out straight! Check this out!

Historically, patches were "christened" with blood, piss or cum. Like me, my brother and his titlespouse chose blood. It was an absolute honor to be asked by both Corazon Titleholders to "christen" and "bless" their patches for the upcoming title year as the "only 2016-17 titleholder to wear the patch with honor". I was asked to suture my beloved brother's patch onto his back and to staple the patch onto the back of our first Mx. Corazon Titleholder. No pressure, right? Umm... Hella pressure, hello. 

I sincerely believe that the right people were chosen to represent New Mexico and I look forward to seeing their growth and accomplishments in the year to come. I also hope that their service to the community will continue long after their title year is complete.

New topic: an unofficial mentor of mine had heart troubles and expired in the hospital. I do not necessarily believe that attending the wake held in his honor is necessary for me personally. I made my peace with him while he was alive and it hurt when I learned of his expiration. I've gone through my own grieving process and I do regret not spending more time with him while he was breathing. With that said, please reach out to your friends, family and loved ones because you never know if this very day may be their last. RIP Daniel. 

Last night, right before the Education at the Wet Munch, my mother called me. I ignored her call and promptly received a text, "Call me ASAP." The last time I received a text with those words, my stepfather (whom I consider my dad) had a gun safe fall on him, requiring a hospital stay in addition to my uncle perishing in a freak boating accident and his body being found 1 hour before my step-down speech as one of the Ms. Corazon Leather 2016-17 titleholders. I fell apart in the hotel lobby in front of my peers, friends and chosen family. 

I managed to get through my speech thanks to the resting bitch Jinx dead face, my boy Rowan, my chosen family and friends sitting in the audience, and Ninjet and I's successors lingering behind the curtains, waiting to see which of them would take our places. After all was said and done, I went up to my room and cried myself to sleep in my boy's arms.

I called my mother back and was informed that my great Aunt passed at home from heart failure. I couldn't get the whole story because my mother's voice was distorted by tears.

I am sitting here now looking up flights and hoping by some small miracle that I can make it to Lafayette Louisiana for my great Aunt's funeral and manage to be back in Albuquerque before my other obligations arise but I am not having much luck. I am bombarded by emails, FB messages, texts, FL messages and phone calls...all constant reminders of the craziness that is my life. 

For my New Year, I vow to take better care of myself because I cannot keep filling others' bowls if my own bowl is empty. If that means cutting toxic people and situations out of my life, so be it. I also don't really make New Year's Resolutions because I feel that waiting until the New Year gives everyone reasons to procrastinate or put off changing themselves or their lives. 

Maybe things will change. Maybe I will continue to be the sarcastic, anxiety-ridden, dark humored Jinx that many of you have come to know and love. 

We will see. 

I advise each and every one of you to do the same. Put yourself first. For fuck's sake, no one else will. 

Gear Night -Leather Luau: Leis and Gays

The Leather Luau Gear Night event held by Sidewinders and The Leather Daddies was amazing.

The Luau contest was a lot of fun to watch and boi Dani looked extremely busy and happy at the Bootblack station.

Gear Night -Leather Luau

Come celebrate Leather Luau in January with the Leather Daddys TONIGHT!

For those who like to dress in gear, come dressed in your favorite leather, rubber, pup, fur, etc. But the Daddys are lamenting the cold weather has been encouraging the use of too much clothing. That's why they decided this Gear Night should be the celebration of Leather Luau. If you can, think skimpy! If you can't, come enjoy those who do come skimpy!

Our contest this night will be for the best presentation in the most skimpy swimwear you have... Speedo or other swimsuit. Get on stage, flaunt what you have and show your Leather Luau style.

Leather Daddies hosts Gear Night as a social gathering for the entire leather and kink community inclusive of all sexual identities. It is held the first Saturday of the month at Sidewinders Bar in Albuquerque, NM. Put on your gear and come socialize and say hello to old and new friends. If you’re new to this scene, come by and wear what is comfortable to you, watch, listen, learn, and ask questions! “Gear” is inclusive of all leather, fetish, and kink interests including rubber, pup gear, singlets, rope, etc., so come have fun and show off what you have and browse what you desire.

This event typically starts at 9:00 p.m. until about midnight, but you can arrive earlier. Each of these events has some planned entertainment that might be a demonstration or contest. Many of these are in support of our supported charities. Check out the topic for the month and come prepared to watch or participate!
